Out On Top is an exploration of performative and intimate relationships. The trio of dancers (Koh Kozuru, Lucy Elliott, Mira Fowler) move through spaces created by projection-mapped images and light, which transform the stage into separate worlds. The vastness of the theater is made intimate by these smaller worlds where the audience is transported into. The trio explores eroticism through movement and personal history, guided by scores such as “sexy mama for your viewing pleasure.” Their relationships ebb and flow throughout the piece, bringing them together as a group, as well as allowing them to explore their individuality and character through separated material. The songs and sound of Out On Top move the dancers and audience through an emotional narrative, from empowering erotic performativity, to communal fun and silliness, into internal writhing discovery.

Out On Top is the final culmination of my senior thesis in dance at Bennington College. Two shorter itterations were created with this trio of dancers and performed in the fall of 2024.
